Karapettai Nadar Higher Secondary School, Thoothukudi

The school was established through the efforts of Duraichamy Nadar in 1920. In 1935, the school was functioning as a fullfledged primary school with the efforts of Vadathisai Hindu Nadar’s Mahamai Dharma Karapettai Paribalana Sangam. In 1946, it emerged as a middle school through the efforts of Mr. A. Natarajan. It was upgraded to High School on 11th June 1951. On 14th June 1953, 8 classrooms were opened by Bharat Ratna Perunthalaivar Kamarajar under the leadership of Mr.V.V.Dhanushkodi. English Medium classes were started in 1963. In 1978, school was upgraded as higher secondary school. Since then it has been functioning as the best school in the city. In 1987, Vetri Vinayagar Temple was built in the school campus for the welfare of the students. Our daily educational work begins with worshipping the Lord Ganesa.
